Research Abstract	エイズ発症の機構を明らかにし、新しい制御方法の糸口を見出すことを目的に、HIVの複製、病態のウイルス学的ならびに免疫学的基盤、動物モデルの開発と展開、ウイルス複製の分子的免疫的制御を軸として多面的アプローチを行った。本年度は、従来RNAスプライシング/核外輸送の調節に主役を演ずるとされてきたRevが翻訳調節に直接関与する可能性、HIV表層シアル酸による感染性の負の制御、細胞外可溶性Nefによる潜伏HIVゲノムの活性化や非感染細胞のアポトーシス、感染防御に関わる細胞障害性T細胞エピトープの同定と解析、その位置づけが今後高まるであろう粘膜局所における防御能の賦与、マクロファージ向性ウイルスのCD4+細胞Th1サブタイプへの高い感染能など、数多くの新知見がもたらされたことは特筆される。さらに、HIVコレセプターfusinのマウスホモログが同定された。これらに加えて、マイナス鎖RNAウイルスであるセンダイウイルスをベクターとして用い、HIVエンベロープ蛋白を高効率生産するという極めてユニークな成果も得られた。以上の成果の一部は国際エイズ学会(平成8年7月カナダ)、国際ウイルス学会議(平成8年8月イスラエル)、国際シンポジウム「RNAの制御的役割」(平成8年11月)などで公表されると共に大学と科学「HIV/AIDS研究はいま」を通してひろく社会へも還元された。また、本領域の基本的方向と各班員の研究の進展情況を報告討論するため班会議を2回(平成8年6月28日、平成8年11月29日〜30日)行った。
