| Research Abstract |
光合成における最も基本的で重要な過程である電子移動について、それを制御する因子をモデル化合物の合成によって解明することを目的として研究を行ない、以下の様な成果を得た。(1)ポルフィリンとC_<60>とを連結した化合物を連結位置を種々変えて系統的に合成し、それらの化合物の電子移動を詳細に検討した。その結果、電子移動は溶媒、自由エネルギー変化、置換位置などに大きく左右することが判明した。(2)ポルフィリンとC_<60>あるいはベンゾキノンを堅固なスペーサーで連結し、両者の電子移動速度の差を調べることにより、C_<60>のような大きなパイ電子系では正方向の電子移動は速く、逆電子移動は遅くなるといった生体類似の挙動を示すことが明らかとなった。(3)ポルフィリン-C_<60>連結化合物を全表面上に自己集合化させて単分子膜を形成させた。こうして作製した修飾電極に光を照射すると大きな光電流が観測された。これは光合成類似の電子移動による機構で起こっているものと考えられる。
