Research Abstract

In this research, we developed a new index of ventilation efficiency 'Purging Flow Rate (PFR) ', and also provided the data base of the ventilation air quantity.
Since ventilation efficiency in a room is not uniform and index for measuring ventilation efficiency at a certain point or concerned domain is required, PFR becomes a useful index, of the scaling ventilation efficiency. PFR corresponds to the effective air volume rate for purging thecontaminant, or in other words, the air volume rate for effective ventilation air passed a given domain. PFR is also useful for evaluation in the occupied zone.
The factors which influences the ventilation efficiency or PFR in the occupied zone are 'partitions which is set up in the occupied zone' , 'temperature difference' , 'the position of supply and exhaust opening' , and so on. We analyzed these influences systematically by adopting the experimentalmeasuring and computer simulations.
Some part of the experiment was coducted in the precise model of a room, in order to measured : (1) the velocity distribution of airflow, and (2) the temperature and contaminant distribution.
The other part, we analyzed the ventilation efficiency and PFR systematically by CFD.
