Research Abstract |
In 1995, a literature review from 1985 to 1995 was conducted. Although there were many research for the environment of child and family, there were few research for nursing education of child and family. In 1996, questionnaire for nursing education of child and family based on the literature review was made and the pilot study was conducted. The participants consisted of 36 faculties who were teaching child and family nursing in Japan. The return rate was 69.6%. The statistical package for HALBAU was used for computations and analysis. Most of the school tried to teach within the nursing model and keep up with the change. However, the faculty stated that the number of faculties and time for teaching were not enough. As the number of children has been decreased, the number of beds and units in hospital is also decreased. Even though clinical practice is very important, the faculty had hard time to find the facilities and patients. In 1997, eight specialists for child and family nursing were asked to discuss about the ideal curriculum development of nursing for children and families. The curriculum must meet the needs of child and family and the contents will be the follows : ethics which includes children's rights, and environment which includes international issues and Japanese families' situation. In addition, new idea for the clinical practice might be need.
