Research Abstract	本研究の目的は、いわゆる強相関電子系の学理を解明し、これを工学に応用するための基礎をつくることである。この系においては電子の持つスピン、電荷、軌道の自由度が、互いに強く相互作用しあうことによって極めて複雑な相転移を起こす。本研究では電場や磁場のような従来型の外場のみならず、特に光を用いた相制御を企図している。 1.スピン-電荷結合系の光による相制御:ポンプ・プローブ分光を行い、光励起状態の過渡現象を調べた。(1)Pr_<0.7>Ca_<0.3>MnO_3において光誘起金属相が格子の緩和に先行して生じることを観測した。(2)層状酸化物La_<0.5>Sr_<1.5>MnO_4において、電荷・軌道整列状態が光励起によって崩壊し復活する過程を複屈折法を用いて検出した。(3)光磁気カー効果を用いてFe-Mo酸化物の秩序ペロフスカイト結晶の光誘起強磁性崩壊を見出した。(4)銅酸化物絶縁体について、強い二光子吸収が見出され、その時間応答特性は銅・酸素構造の次元性に強く依存することがわかった。 2.光物性:層状酸化物(La,Sr)_3Mn_2O_7において、基底状態の完全スピン分極した状態においてもキャリアのダイナミクスが極めてインコヒーレントであることを明らかにした。さらに、強磁性転移点以上の温度領域において、電荷軌道整列揺らぎをラマン散乱により観測し、二重交換相互作用と競合する不安定性の存在を明らかにした。 3.スピン-電荷結合系のスピニクス:(1)一次元スピン梯子系Sr_<14>Cu_<24>O_<41>の単結晶において高圧下での電気抵抗測定を行い、単結晶試料においても超伝導が起こることを確認した。異方性の測定から、この梯子系の超伝導が1次元から2次元への次元クロスオーバーによっていることが示唆された。(2)二次元反強磁性ハイゼンベルグ磁性体Ba_2CUGe_2O_7を見出し、3.26K以下でスパイラル状態を基底状態とする反強磁性体であることを発見した。中性子回折より、この状態はKSEWA相互作用を付け加えることにより説明できることを示した。(3)新しいハルデン物質PbNi_2V_2O_8を合成し、この物質にも不純物誘起反強磁性相があることを見出した。(4)超伝導体に高圧を印加することにより系の異方性を変化させ、磁束系の相図を制御することにはじめて成功した。また、BiをPbで大量に置換したBi_<2-x>Pb_xSr_2CaCU_2O_<8+y>単結晶において臨界電流の大きな面内異方性があることを発見した。この系において見られる面状ピン止め中心がこの大きな異方性の原因であることを示した。(5)π軌道とd軌道から成る有機・無機複合物質(DMeDCNQI)_2CUが反強磁性的スピン揺らぎを有するバンドと強磁性的揺らぎを有するバンドを持つことを明らかにするとともに、加圧下で起こる反強磁性電荷秩序相への転移がMn酸化物における金属・絶縁体転移と類似の現象であることを指摘した。(6)ハロゲン架橋錯体においてハロゲンイオンや対イオンを置換することによって、電荷移動ギャップやスピン間相互作用を幅広く制御することが可能となった。光伝導度および発光の励起エネルギー依存性の測定は、電荷解離の過程と輻射再結合過程が競合していることを示しており、励起子効果の重要性が明らかとなった。 4.スピン-電荷-光・結合系の量子論と強相関エレクトロニクスの原理:(1)密度汎関数近似を超える一般的な取扱いであるGW近似の計算プログラムをつくり、遷移金属についての予備計算を行った。遷移金属、単純金属、半導体に共通して用いることのできる方法が確立できた。(2)モリブデンのパイクロア型酸化物に関して、スピン異方性がもたらすスピンの傾きが、ベリー位相を誘起し、絶対零度でも有限に残る異常ホール効果を説明することを示した。(3)有機超伝導体κ・(BEDT)_2Xにおける超伝導と強磁性の多重臨界現象を解析し、実験との比較から高い対称性(SO(5))が存在していることを見出した。(4)柔らかい擬ポテンシャルを用いた密度汎関数オーダーN法の収束性向上と安定化をおこない、またオーダーNの実現を検証した。(5)薄膜作製のためのレーザーアブレーション装置を立ち上げ、応用を視野に入れた試料開発を開始した。
