Research Abstract	本研究の目的は、いわゆる強相関電子系の学理を解明し、これを工学に応用するための基礎をつくることである。この系においては電子の持つスピン、電荷、軌道の自由度が、互いに強く相互作用しあうことによって極めて複雑な相転移を起こす。本研究では電場や磁場のような従来型の外場のみならず、特に光を用いた相制御を企図している。 1.スピン-電荷結合系の光による相制御:(1)永続的光伝導の観測。ペロフスカイト型Mn酸化物において、CrによるBサイト置換、あるいはNaによるAサイト置換はいずれも強い乱れを系に持ちこむ。これらの系において、永続的光伝導が初めて観測され安定な金属状態が可視光でも生成されることを示した。(2)THz光学測定系を完成し、acホール効果を検出した。理論的に予言されている異常な異常ホール効果のダイナミクスを研究する準備が整った。(3)電荷分極相にあるハロゲン架橋複核錯体において、電荷密度波状態への圧力誘起相転移を見出した。また、この転移のヒステリシス領域において双方向の光誘起相転移を見出した。 2.光物性:(1)強相関絶縁体LaMnO_3において、軌道波(orbiton)をラマン散乱によって初めて観測した。(2)前年度、巨大非線型光学効果を見出した低次元強相関系試料の3次非線型感受率の実部をZ-scan法により評価し、光通信波長において従来の物質より一桁大きい値を示すことを見出した。また、このような巨大非線型効果を生み出す強相関系特有の物理についての一般的な描像を提出した。(3)薄膜においても電荷・軌道整列状態が存在することをラマン散乱によって見出した。また、その巨視的な異方性が基板の異方性によって制御できることを見出した。(4)X線偏光コントラストイメージング装置を作製し、CoK吸収端での磁気二色性イメージングに成功した。 3.スピン-電荷結合系のスピニクス:(1)高温超伝導体中の不純物の周辺に生じる4回対称の準粒子雲をSTMによって直接観察した。(2)La、Y系の高温超伝導体のTc以上で大きなNernst効果を見出し、磁束のような励起状態がすでに存在することを指摘した。(3)磁気光学差像法を開発し、巨大磁気抵抗を示すMn酸化物で従来均一相と言われた相にも複雑な磁気構造があることを見出した。また、磁束格子融解転移のその場観察に成功した。これによって、良質の単結晶にも転移磁場の大きな分布があることが明らかになった。(4)反強磁性絶縁体近傍に位置する超伝導体の強磁場下NMRにより、低温強磁場下で反強磁性が現れることを微視的に検証した。(5)10%だけホールをドープした(BEDT-TTF)塩を合成し、そのNMRからこの物質が反強磁性転移寸前の異常な金属状態にあることが明らかになった。 4.スピン-電荷-光・結合系の量子論と強相関エレクトロニクスの原理:(1)動的平均場近似と密度汎関数近似を接続し、現実の物質の電子構造に対するモット転移を議論する準備をした。これにより、有限温度、有限ホール濃度、任意の格子で動的平均場近似の議論を行った。(2)フラストレーションを持つスピン系の動的性質と相秩序についてモード間結合理論を展開し、NiS_2に見られる物性を完全に解明した。(3)強相関系に共通に見られる多重臨界現象について、統一的な視点を得るために、繰り込み群を用いた理論解析を行った。これによって、相転移がいくつかの場合に分類され、それぞれにスケーリング則が成立することを見出した。(4)ランダムな逐次的非断熱遷移による非指数的磁化緩和や量子運動中の熱の流入によるメタ磁性現象を調べた。さらに、量子相互作用の強い系での電子スピン共鳴、光誘起相転移、S=1でのスピンパイエルス転移、競合系でのエントロピー誘起相転移などについても調べた。(5)薄膜作製のためのレーザーアブレーション装置、パターニングのためのリソグラフィ、イオンエッチング装置が本格的に稼動し、応用を視野に入れた試料開発が順調に推移している。
