Research Abstract	本研究の目的は、強相関電子系の学理を解明し、これを応用するための基礎を確立することである。この系においては電子の持つスピン、電荷、軌道の自由度が、互いに強く相互作用しあい、極めて複雑な相転移を起こす。本研究では電場や磁場のような従来型の外場のみならず、特に光を用いた相制御を企図した研究を進め、以下のような成果を得た。 1.スピン-電荷結合系の光による相制御電子相関によって生じる、電荷整列した絶縁体状態に可視・近赤光を照射し、秩序を融解し金属相を発現させることに成功した。また、相転移近傍での磁気秩序の時間変化を時間分解磁気光学分光により捉える手法を確立した。1次元および2次元銅酸化物、Niハロゲン架橋錯体などの低次元強相関電子系に対して非線形分光を系統的に進めた。さらに、強い光励起により、モット絶縁体が金属的状態に転移することを捉えた。昨年に続き、幾何学的フラストレーションを有するパイロクロア構造で磁気構造のフラストレーションとカイラリティーに起因する現象を探求し、これが大きな磁気光学応答の起源にもなりうることが議論された。電子型高温超伝導体Nd_<2-x>Ce_xCuO_4の低ドープ領域での系統的な分光実験により、0.2-0.4eVという大きなエネルギーの擬ギャップが現れることを発見した。 2.スピン-電荷結合系のスピニクス CuGeO_3のスピンパイエルス転移の物理を明らかにするために、磁場依存性、不純物濃度依存性、圧力依存性を系統的に調べ、磁場下の実験により98cm^<-1>のフォノンモードがスピンとフォノンの結合モードであることを突き止めた。1,2次元、梯子Cu酸化物の単結晶を合成し、様々の分光法を用いて調べ2次元Cu酸化物高温超伝導体系では、ストライプ秩序、磁場、不純物による超伝導パラメーターの変調の結果として生ずる新しい電子(準粒子)励起を数多く発見した。ジョセフソン・プラズマ共鳴を有機超伝導体で始めて確認した。分子性物質において、強い電子相関効果によって引き起こされるスピンと電荷の秩序及びそれらが結合して発現する諸電子相の微視的構造の解明と相制御の可能性を追求した。 3.スピン-電荷-光・結合系の量子論 (1)ゲージ理論における強結合効果の理論的研究を進め、ドープされたホールの非局所性及びトポロジカルな性質を明らかにし、相分離やストライプ形成と超伝導をゲージ力により統一することに成功した。マンガン系酸化物の相図を平均場近似の範囲で再現するためには、軌道自由度が不可欠であることを明らかにした。多重臨界現象について統一的な視点を得る為、繰り込み群を用いた理論的解析を行い、競合する秩序が多数存在する時、競合の強さに応じて分類を行い、それぞれの領域でスケーリング則が成立する事を見出した。スピン構造がnon-coplanarでスピンカイラリティーを持つ場合に異常ホール効果やファラデー回転等の磁気光学効果を理論的に調べた。強相関電子系の諸相を(2)第一原理計算によって解明する研究を進めた。LDA+U法での計算を継続し、マンガン酸化物でのスピン,軌道秩序の定量的な議論を行った。柔らかい擬ポテンシャルを用いた密度汎関数オーダーN法の収束性向上と安定化をおこなった。密度汎関数近似を超えるGW近似の計算プログラムを開発し磁性を鉄属酸化物に適用した。(3)量子力学的な相互作用が重要な役割をする系における現象を解析した。一次元S=1/2ハイゼンベルグ反強磁性体における不純物効果の温度依存性を量子モンテカルロ法で詳しく調べその特徴を明らかにした。ナノスケール磁性体での量子ダイナミックスとそれへの散逸環境(熱源)の効果を量子マスター方程式を用いて調べ、見かけ上の量子遷移現象の存在や、励起状態の熱分布によるパリティ効果、熱緩和の遅れによるボトルネック効果などを明らかにした。 4.強相関エレクトロニクスの応用強相関電子系の相制御を用いた素子デモンストレーションのため、微細化回路の試作を開始した。電流制御不揮発性メモリーのプロトタイプの作製を開始した。一次元銅酸化物の光通信波長域での性能を評価するために、常温での3次非線形光学応答による非線形屈折率係数の評価を行い、従来知られている物質を越える性能が確認された。
