里地地域における草原生植物相の保全・再生ポテンシャルに関する景観生態学的研究

| Research Abstract |
本研究の目的は、里地地域における生物多様性の核となる草原生植物を対象とし、過去100年以上に渡る長期的な景観変化が、現在の分布状況と将来の個体群回復可能性に与える影響を解明することで、効果的な保全・再生が可能な立地を抽出するための評価指標を提示することである。最終年度である今年度は、昨年度から継続して得られたフィールド調査および実験結果の解析を中心に行い、多様な草原生植物相が生育可能な立地に共通する景観履歴とその指標となる種群を具体的に抽出した。
景観履歴に関しては、戦後畑地化の履歴がなく、近年まで周辺(特に半径250m圏内)に潜在的生育地が多く分布していた樹林地は、保全上特に注目できる立地であることが明らかになった。また、こうした景観構造に対する反応性の違いと個体群回復の際の制限要因の違いから、高茎の重力散布型広葉草本は特に注目すべき種群だと考えられた。これは、これらの種群が、草原生植物の中でも、生育地の分断化に対して最も敏感に反応する傾向を示すとともに、地上植生からの消失により回復が困難(埋土種子からの低い発芽率と低い種子散布能力)になると考えられたためであり、立地の保全再生の優先順位を考える上で、特に指標となりうる種群と考えられた。
以上、本研究より、里地里山域における長期的な景観履歴は、現在のみならず将来的な草原生植物相の分布を規定する重要な要素であることが示された。また、こうした景観履歴を考慮することで、最終的に、より多様な草原生植物が生育可能な場所およびその優先順位を明確にしていくための具体的な基準を提示した。
