Research Abstract	本研究は生体の高次機能の積極的活用に基づく新しい工学技術を創造することを目的としている。昨年度から引続き脳などの生体システムの機能を取り入れた工学技術開発と本年度はその技術応用として医用診断に利用する研究を、本学とフロリダアトランティック大学の協力により、相補的に研究を発展させることを試み、以下の調査、研究を行った。 1. 生体機能の工学的分析とその応用技術開発両大学の基礎医学・生物研究者、工学研究者が協力して、生体機能のなかでも特に脳の多様な機能から工学的観点から有用性が期待される時系列パターンの学習および認識機能、更に協調および統合制御機能の分析、評価を行い、工学的新技術開発の検討を行った。具体的な課題として、これらの生体機能を取り入れた自己学習型パターン認識システムを構築し、環境に応じた特徴抽出ができる新しい方式を開発することができた。またこの新しいシステムを車両正面画像からの車種識別、溶接の際に生じる欠陥の種類と大きさの識別、乳癌、肺癌の識別への応用を試み、その有用性を確かめることができた。生体の協調、統合制御機能を利用した方式はロボットの自律運動、マニピュレータシステム、多軸モータ協調システムに適用し、有効な結果が得られた。 2. 体機能の工学的評価、応用技術開発を進めるために、生体機能計測を本年度も続けて行った。両大学で保有する設備、機器を活用すると共に、特に脳が外部環境入力をどのような表現で内部に構築するかについて焦点をあてた計測システムを開発した。 3. シンポジウムの開催等両大学でシンポジウムを開催し、調査研究結果の報告、討議、意見交換を行った。また本年度の成果を踏まえ、次年度の調査計画の詳細を打ち合せ、検討した。
