Research Abstract

1) In order to clarify whether mouth wash is effective for decrease of throat bacterial flora in the patients. The result indicated that it is relatively difficult to decrease effectively the number of bacterial flora adhered on the throat by mouth wash.
2) In order to examine usefulness of Liquid Supply and Suction Oral Brush 910 by Lion Hamigaki Co. in oral cavity care of the patients with dysphagia. Improvement of oral cavity finding and bacteriological test result were found.
3) We examined the relationships among the activity of daily livings, oral cavity care and the number of oral cavity microorganisms in 40 patients with cerebrovascular deseases(CVD). The result indicated that microorganisms grow more easily in the oral cavities of CVD patients with low ADL compared with CVD patients with higher ADL, and that eating is thought to be important for the prevention of an increase of microorganisms in the oral cavity.
4) We examined the present condition of the oral cavity care and conditions clinically in 159 patients with severely multiple - handicapped. It was clear that cooperation with dentist, physicians, nurses, care givers is necessary to construct an effective system of oral cavity care in the patients with severely multiple-handicapped.
