Research Abstract |
In order to support the design of artifacts, search and visualization system of artifacts forms which constitute characteristic features on human cognition and image are developed. 1. Relations between Observed Form Segments and Attractiveness in Product Design. Form reasoning system generating attractiveness in case of automobiles is proposed using specially devised canonical correlation analysis. The system is characteristic that the reasoned is not the form specifications but the visualized form. 2. Generating Form Alternatives for Design Using Nonlinear Transformation of Form Characteristics The system generates variations of a product form given 2-dimensional figure. Transformation of characteristics is formulated using a nonlinear function related to the difference between the original form and a certain defined basic form, and then the formulated transformation is diversified into emphasis, modulation and reverse emphasis. 3. Relation between Parameter on Nonlinear Transformation of Form Characteristics and Image of Generated Form The research is to clarify the relation between parameter on nonlinear transformation of form characteristics and image of generated form through the analysis of questionnaire survey. Simulation is executed for automobile forms, and proved that parameter affects on image words. 4. Chain-like Structure of Human Cognition and Image as a Characteristic found In the so-called "Kansei" Engineering Research into the relation among the sets of cognitive element concerned with an image word is executed usingrough set theory. It is cleared that the plural sets of cognitive elements concerned with some image are connected each other with such a relation as a kind of chain. This suggests that we have to develop a new algorithm which involve the diversity of chain-like sets of cognitive element for form search system.
