Research Abstract	ひきつづきレーザー干渉計の感度と安定度の向上を目指して改良を行った。また、重力波の観測システムとしての成熟を図るために、各種モニター系の充実とデータ取得・解析システムのハード・ソフト両面の整備を進め、自動化やオンライン処理化を進めた。具体的研究内容と成果は、1)長期間観測運転の準備として制御系の自動化や干渉計の状態把握のための一部データのオンライン処理化や環境データ取得系の整備を進め、平行して観測シフト要員の養成も行った。 2)2001年8月から9月の50日間の長期観測運転を実施し、干渉計の稼働率では90%以上、観測データとしても1038時間(85%以上)を達成した。 3)得られた膨大な観測データの解析を進め、連星合体からの重力波に対する上限値の更新、連続重力波の探査と上限値の設定・干渉計の非定常的振る舞いについての統計的考察などを行っている。 4)同時期に運転観測された神岡20m干渉計のデータを用いて、世界で初めての2台の干渉計によるコインシデンス解析を進めた。 5)長期観測後に、レーザー干渉計にリサイクリングミラーを導入し、リサイクリング用制御系への変更を行って、リサイクリング干渉計としての運転を開始した。 6)干渉計の原理的雑音の一つである熱雑音を低減化するため、低損失のミラー材料の検討と評価、ミラー冷却の基礎実験、熱雑音評価法の研究などを進めた。 7)狭帯域の高感度化を目指す帯域可変型干渉計の研究を行い、振り子式に吊られた光学系では世界で初めての動作に成功した。 8)重力波発生源に関して数値シミュレーションを含む理論的研究を行った。 9)国内の研究会を開催して、これまでの研究成果の発表を行い研究のとりまとめとした。その際に海外の各プロジェクトからの代表的研究者を招待し、総括班の評価委員とともに、本研究の総括的評価を行い、今後の研究展開について議論した。
