Research Abstract

当研究における偏微分方程式への特異点論の応用に関しては、以前から代表者が継続して行ってきたハミルトン・ヤコビ方程式の弱解の特異点の研究方法を液体音響学や地震波の研究で重要なヘルムホルツ方程式の漸近解の研究へと応用することを試みた.その結果、境界を持たない滑らかな屈折係数を持つ場合にはほぼ完璧に以前の理論を応用出来ることがわかり、さらに境界を持つ場合や屈折係数が区分的に滑らかな連続関数で与えられる場合にもそこに現れる特異点の状況を解明しつつある段階である.この一般的な場合は、従来のラグランジュ特異点論は正確な枠組みではなく、近年開発された網状ラグランジュ特異点論が必要となる.さらに、2階のモンジュ・アンペール型方程式については、一般論では研究に行き詰まりがあり、具体的な場合に解を構成してその特異性について研究を開始した.これらの研究のために、コンピュータグラフィックが大変有効であった.
一方の微分幾何学への応用については、特にユークリッド微分幾何学以外の幾何学への特異点論の応用が試みられた.具体的には、ローレンツ微分幾何学における曲線の理論へ特異点論を応用して、接触光錐と言う新たな対象とそれに付随する、新たな不変料の関係、さらに光的曲面の特異点との関係などが明らかにされた.また、双曲平面上の曲線への特異点論の応用により、双曲適縮閉線の計算可能な定義をあたえ、その特異点の分類及び則知的曲率との関係を明らかにした.ここでも、具体的な曲線に対応する図をコンピュータで描くことが研究推進上大変有効であった.
