Research Abstract |
We took an aim of the research at covering Western records & archives broadly, and making it clear in the concrete, the process of the Shimonoseki-War and the international situation in 1863 to 1864. Therefore, the research was carried out by cooperation with "Research on Historical Sources in European Countries concerning 19^<th> century of Japan ", Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B), 1999-2000, 11691006. We got a big result with excavation lots of original records of Great Britain, France, Dutch and The United States. We also got the military records and various kind of the data of the War, historical pictures through the research. All the historical sources collected through the research are open to public use at Historiographical Institue of the University of Tokyo.
