Research Abstract |
Digital content distribution systems over networks have recently been proposed. But they require a "watermark" technique to protect the copyright of the content. This paper proposes a new digital watermarking method based on a smearingdesmearing transform defined in this paper. The proposed digital watermarking is executed as follows. The information of each pixel on the signature image is distributed by the smearing transform uniformly to be superposed on the amplitudes of all pixels on the original image. Then, using the desmearing transform, which is orthogonal to the smearing transform, the signature information distributed on the amplitudes of all pixels is concentrated to the original pixel and the signature image is restored. The smearing transform preserves the power spectrum of the signature signal and the tolerance of the watermark to JPEG compression is achieved. Experimental results demonstrate that the embedded watermark is robust to JPEG compression.
