| Research Abstract |
本研究において、生物多様性を進化遺伝学的な視点から解明することを目的として研究を進めてきた。特に、ヒトゲノム配列決定プロジェクトの終了が間もなくとなりSNPsプロジェクトが始動した現在、このような取り組みは重要性を増している。平成10年度におこなった微生物ゲノムにおける主観比較の研究を更にすすめた(Bellgard and Gojobori 1999)。更に、微生物ゲノムでは、オペロン構造のように機能的に重要であると考えられる領域であってさえも構造可塑性を持つことを示し、ゲノム構造における多様性の様相を明らかにした。加えて、GC含量が大きく変化しゲノム中の塩基構成が多様化する過程を推定するための方法の開発をおこなった(Bellgard and Gojobori 1999)。本年度は、更に、その対象を微生物ゲノムからヒトゲノムにひろげ、MHC領域に注目して詳細な解析をすすめた。ヒトゲノム配列決定の進展により新たに利用可能となった領域中に大規模遺伝子重複領域を発見するとともに、その領域における重複を原因とする構造進化過程を示した。一方、非コード領域の解析から非常に高い塩基多様性を示す領域を発見し、その領域の進化に対するヒッチハイキング効果の関与の可能性を示唆した。
これらの知見は、ゲノム構造の分子レベルの進化におけるダイナミックスと生物多様性の進化機構に関して新たな理解をもたらすことができたと考えられる。
