Research Abstract |
This research group was aimed at facilitating and encouraging scientific interactions and collaboration among the scientists involved in this priority area. For such purpose, this group organized annual meeting of the priority area, and also symposia open to general scientists. The most significant was the international symposium on "Development and Epigenetics of Mammalian Germ Cells and Pluripotent Stem Cells, "held on 19-21 November, 2001 in Kyoto, with more than 300 participants and 25 speakers. Speakers includes : Anne McLaren (Cambridge, UK) "Germ cells and stem cells : the key to developmental potency"/Patrick Tam (Sydney, Australia) "Allocation and differentiation of the progenitors for germ cells and urogenital tissues"/Austin Smith (Edinburgh, UK) "Signalling self-renewal in pluripotent stem cells"/Guang-Quan Zhao (Dallas, USA) "BMP signaling in the generation of primordial germ cells in the mouse"/Chris Wylie (Cincinnati, USA)"Migration of mouse primordial germ cells"/Robin L
