Research Abstract |
The Main aim of this research is the development of simulation program to evaluate the shock loads due to seaquake. In order to validate the developed program, the water tank with the compression wave generator was constructed and the experiments to measure the character of compression wave propagation of this tank were carried out. As a result, the resonance in the seismic wave field which is bounded by free surface and bottom could be observed. As the side wall of the tank vibrated caused by the vibration of compression wave generator, it was also clear that the vibration gives effect on the experimental results of the pressure in compression wave field. Furthermore, the sound velocity depends on the water temperature and this also gave the effect on the resonance frequency. These suggested that we have to develop the new measurement system when we carry out the experiments to measure the shock load due to seaquake by using of the tank. Anyway, we've obtained a lot of information, especially for experiment method, trough the research. The mechanism of seaquake will be made clear in the near future from experimental and numerical researches.
