Research Abstract |
In this project we described various aspects of the historical development of the German language in the background of the changing sociey of Germany from the early Modern Age to the Present. About the language and society in Germany of the 15th and 16th centuries Odori analysed printings for the mass in the Reformation and pointet out, that small pamphlets spreaded over the life of the people and played a important role in their communication. Concerning the 16th and 17th centuries Nitta researched the relatioship between tge written language and the spoken language by analysing the works of Luther and proved, that the German language strengthened her charakter of a written language. Shigeto analysed constructions with participles in German, examined reduceraent in use of participles in relation with their alternative constructions and tried to posit the German language from the viewpoint of the Language Typology. Regarding the philosopy of language in the 18th century Kawanago investigated Herders criticism on the Enlightement and brought out the roles of poetics, rhetorics and metaphors in his language philosopy. He published also a book of Hamans biography. Fort the 19th century Sugita researched the language philosophy of Nietzsche and confirmed, that his distrust of language is an ambivalent reflection of his learning in classics of Greek and Latin. Regarding the language and society in Germany of the 20th century Graeb-Konneker investigated the literatur and language in the National Socialism and pbublished a documentation of concrete instances of lingustic symptoms of the movement.
