Research Abstract |
The first aim of this SOKATSU-HAN is to promote academic interaction and exchange of technology among the members of this priority area. In order to do so, we core-members of SOKASRU-HAN have arranged annual assembly meetings so that every member can have sufficient time to discuss with others between each presentation. During the meeting, we also tried to a time for intermingling of members from slightly different fields. We also stressed to encourage young people to join discussions. These were successfully achieved by the appropriate selection of the meeting sites and planning of the programs. Secondly, we aimed to familiarize our activities to the public. Some members paid substantial efforts to write books and review articles so that not only for the people in science but also for general public can understand the importance of the research in this area. To attract people to biology, we also organized a lecture series by inviting a famous biology textbook authos Scott Gilbert and an insect photographer Kazuo Unno to the public including high school students and teachers, which was very successful. Because of these planning and activities of SOKATSU-HAN, we could promote the priority area "Dynamics of Developmental Systems" so efficiently.
