The effective use of a fogging system for the cooling and the spraying of agricultural chemical were investigated, and the following results were obtained. 1)Tmperature and humidity environments in a cooling greenhouse Characteristic of temperature and humidity environments inside the evaporative fog air cooling greenhouse, when fog was sprayed intermittently by a fogging system, were investigated. 2)Analysis of ventilation rate Ventilation rate, which affect the temperature and humidity inside the evaporative fog air cooling greenhouse, was measured with the traditional greenhouse and the large scale Venro-type greenhouse. The values of ventilation rate for several commercial greenhouses were obtained from the measurement. 3) Method of controlling an evaporative cooling system The fog is sprayed intermittently from the nozzles in general operating method. The effect of the fogging time and interval time on environments inside the greenhouse was investigated. Changes in temperature and humid

ity, and an amount of un-evaporated fog decreased with decreasing the fogging and interval time under the condition of same amount of spraying water per hour. 4)Development of an evaporative cooling support software The Ventilation-Evaporation-Temperature-Humidity (VETH) chart is useful in the design of evaporative cooling operations, because the relationship between. the four factors (ventilation, evaporation, temperature, and humidity) is easily determined from the chart. The software for the personal computer that can draw a VETH chart, as well as software that can calculate the necessary water spraying rate, were developed. Such software packages are useful as tools in the design and operation of evaporative cooling systems. 5)Characteristic of agricultural chemicals adhesion on a leaf surface Characteristic of the agricultural chemicals adhesion on the upper and lower surface of a leaf was tested by using a water sensitive paper. The degree of adhesion on the lower surface of a leaf was very few comparing with that on the upper surface of a leaf. The degree of adhesion on the lower surface of a leaf increased slightly by air circulation with the fan operation. Less
