Research Abstract |
First, output dynamics of erbium-doped fiber ring lasers of the sinusoidal loss modulation model was analyzed. By setting the pumping power and the modulation coefficient in the laser as variables, the chaotic output appears with a high pumping power, but disappears under no modulation and the extremely high modulation coefficient condition. Second, synchronization characteristics for the master-slave and slave-slave system was analyzed by using the correlation coefficient between the two laser outputs. In the master-slave type the highest correlation coefficient is obtained with the modulation index of the master subsystem higher than the that of the slave subsystem and with the pumping power of the master subsystem smaller than that of the slave subsystem. In addition, the synchronization characteristics depends dominantly on the pumping power. A similar synchronization characteristics were obtained in the slave-slave system. Finally, dependence of the decoding characteristics of the message on the parameter difference between the two subsystems is analyzed under the message modulation type secure communication system. The error factor of the decoded message is almost proportional to the difference of the pumping power and becomes small with increasing the modulation index.
