Research Abstract |
In recent years, the study on electric vehicle is the focus of the world's attention whereas it have been going on traditionally. The most important subject for which the engineers must discuss is how long the driving range is gained. As the quantity of the battery being mounted in its cargo space is limited, improvement of the capacity of the battery and the efficiency of the motor driving circuit should be achieved. The speed control of the induction motors which uses the inverter is widely used. However, the speed of induction machine changes when the load changes. Especially, an easy speed control is needed without using an expensive speed sensor because low-cost is demanded for small induction machine. We develop, and implement a new method of the speed sensorless control based on the phase difference of the current of the stator for the induction motors. Moreover, a low-speed control of induction machine was difficult before. However, we analyze, and clarify the cause. So the drive at the low speed of induction machine is enabled by a new V/f control. Moreover, we develop a new torque control method without the sensor. The new control method achieves a constant torque regardless of the speed, and achieves arbitrary torque characteristics. On the other hand, the research of a new reluctance motor is started. The shape of the rotator is designed by using the finite element method. Some reluctance motors are made for trial purposes as the result, and each characteristic is examined.
