Research Abstract |
In the course of our study on the structural and biological chemistry of terpenoids and other constituents from natural plants, we have obtained following results during 2000-2002. 1) Chemical examination of the leaves of Aglaia grandis (Meliaceae) led to the isolation of three new putrescine-type diamides, three new pregnane-steroids, one known aromadendrane-sesquiterpene, and five known cycloartane-triterpenes. 2) In order to establish the (24 R) or (24 S) absolute structure of some 24-hydroxycycloartane-triterpenes, X-ray structural analysis was carried out for 24, 25-dihydroxycycloartan-3-one and determined its (24R) structure unequivocally. 3) Chemical examination of the leaves of Aglaia elliptica led to the isolation of two new diamides, two known diamides, and three known cycloartane-triterpenes. 4) Aminopyrrolidine-diamides, odorine and odorinol, obtained from Aglaia odoraia, exhibited remarkable inhibitory effect on two-stage mouse skin carcinogenesis tests.
