Research Abstract |
Menstruation is a basic and important indicator for women's health. It is hard to keep in memory for a long period the event of the about one-month cyclic menstruation. It is therefore supposed that women use something to record their menstruation. The present contribution shows that 70.2% of 40 age women had recorded their menstruation while 81.6% of 45 age, 53.2% of 50 age and 48.8% of 55 age women, respectively. For the recording, a diary and calendar were mainly used. Many women had continued the recording of the menstruation over twenty years, where the longest recording period was forty years. The average percentage of the use of a life record was 24% for a housekeeping notebook, 9.8% for diary, 64% for one-year memorandum and 20.3% for health diary. Moreover, we designed a ten year long term health diary in 1998, and distributed it to 400 women aged 40's. The investigation using questionnaire in 2000 shows that 52.5% of early 40's women and 46% of late 40's women had continued the recording. We then redesigned and published the long-term health note in 2001, and distributed it to 200 women aged forty-five. The investigation using questionnaire conducted in 2002 shows that 45% of the women had continued the recording. The health note was indeed effective for the menstruation care, life rhythm control, menopause syndrome care and so on. All investigations conducted with the long-term health note show its effectiveness for various health care of the middle age women.
