Research Abstract |
Visually impaired people have a difficulty in communication of graphical information. It is to be more difficult for them to work in cooperation with sighted people in the distance. Our aim was to create a joint workspace for the visually impaired in a distance via a communication network of image, sound, and voice in combination with non-visual interfaces to aid communication, which we have developed. To begin with, we developed a non-visual access method to graphical screen through tactile and auditory sense, and applied it into multi-user board/card game on network. 6 As a result, we confirmed that the online real-time tactile/auditory aid could support visually impaired people to communicate graphical information and to execute a cooperative work with a sighted person.
