Research Abstract |
In this study, a questionnaire survey about risk cognition of urban residents on rainfall related environmental risk, inundation risk and environmental pollution risk, has conducted and methodology of public involving urban stormwater management is discussed. Following results have been obtained. 1) Characterizing inundation risk and environmental pollution risk, background of rainfall related urban environmental risk and social factors which influence damage magnitude has been discussed. 2) The questionnaire survey obtains following results, ■Appropriate information release would raise social awareness of environmental risk. ■Urban residents, who cognize urban environmental risk, would utilize released information effectively and recognize necessity of public involving options to manage risks. 3) To raise public awareness, incentive for urban residents to involve risk management and reconsideration of technical terms to practice risk communication is necessary. 4) Management of rainwater, which is starting point of urban water cycle, concerns a numbers of political subjects relating water cycle. 5) Discussing the importance of public involvement for urban stormwater management, risk management process is referred from the viewpoint of urban resident. 6) The significance of public involving risk management options, such as rainwater utilization and household hazardous waste management, for the urban stormwater management is discussed. 7) A methodology of urban stormwater management aiming at urban water cycle regeneration and urban environment creation is proposed. It is necessary to explain and transfer the advantages for participants. The necessity expanding the participants is discussed.
