Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During FY 2014, we have published four papers, which focus on the ultrastrong coupling regime for linear and quadratic optomechanics. The detailed descriptions are : (1) We showed that the strength of optical Kerr-nonlinearity, as well as the effect of the photon-pressure force in electromechanics, can be enormously increased by modulating the strength of the nonlinear coupling. We also described an electromechanical circuit where this enhancement could be readily realized [New J. Phys. 16, 072001 (2014)]. (2) We proposed a method to generate quantum entanglement between two macroscopic mechanical resonators in a two-cavity optomechanical system [Phys. Rev. A 89, 014302 (2014)]. (3) We proposed a spectrometric method to reconstruct the motional states of mechanical modes in optomechanics [Phys. Rev. A 90, 023851 (2014)]. (4) We studied single-photon emission and scattering in quadratic optomechanics. We also studied the photon-phonon entanglement created in the emission and scattering processes [Scientific Reports 4, 6302 (2014)].
