| Research Abstract |
Professors from the Institute of Oriental Culture (University of Tokyo), the Tokyo University Digital Museum, the Humanities Research Institute (Kyoto University) and the Faculty of Letters at Kyoto University, have created a number of workspaces, and work here is continuing. Another member was Hidemi Hashimoto, Tomonori Usaka, Kazuya Yamamoto, Shigeru Kaneko (University of Tokyo), and Tomohiko Morioka(Kyoto University). The existing homepages will be used in the future to develop their research.
We have already constructed two kinds of server systems. Each system is constructed with several servers with BTRON3-specification Cho-Kanji-4 OS and with Linux. One is made for private LAN in a room, and the other is made for LAN in the building.
Japan, Korea, and China have been strongly influenced by the Edo period, the Yi dynasty, and the Qing dynasty, respectively. We have studied how this influence might be tackled historically and transmitted effectively. Symposiums and other meetings hav

e been held, discussions have taken place, and papers published under the theme "Thinking about the Edo period, the Ming dynasty, and Ancient China ("Re-creating" Chinese Myths about Antiquity in the Making of a New East Asian World Order : A Comparative Perspective from Ancient China to the Ming and Edo periods)."
Research results were published in, among others, Toyo bunka (Oriental culture) No. 85 (Special edition : "Thinking about the Edo period, the Ming dynasty, and Ancient China"), and Shanzhongren raoshezhu, Vol.1.
