Research Abstract |
This research project investigated natural and social conditions and the situations of water resources development and utilization in a number of river basins in Asian monsoon and humid tropic regions from Indochina, Malay Peninsula, Sunda Archipelago to Oceania. Collecting various kinds of physiographic data that indicate the characteristics of each river basin and information necessary for integrated catchment/water resources management, we stored them in the Asian Pacific FRIEND Water Archives and in the Catalogue of Rivers in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Vol.5. Each research member of this project, with the aid of water experts from overseas, conducted their own research, focusing on one of the following topics : 1) Development of hydrological models in river basins, 2) Construction of hydrological database management systems, 3) Rainfall-runoff processes in forested catchments, and 4) Modeling of sub-surface and groundwater flows and their database. The research results, data and var
