Research Abstract

アルキル置換芳香族を対応する芳香族アルデヒドに選択的に部分酸素化させる反応は、医薬品、染料、殺虫剤、香料などの種々の薬品の製造中間体として有用な芳香族アルデヒドを製造する上で、工業化学的に非常に重要な反応である。従来、アルキルベンゼンの部分酸素化には無機酸化剤が用いられて来たが、これらの酸化剤を用いてアルキルベンゼンの酸素化を行った場合には、生成する芳香族アルデヒドの収率が低く、選択性が悪いという欠点がある。また、化学量論量の無機酸化剤が必要となるため、環境汚染が深刻な問題となる。従って、酸化剤として酸素を用いる芳香族アルデヒドの触媒的製造法の開発が待ち望まれている。本研究は、光電子移動反応を利用して、酸化剤として無機酸化剤を使用せずに、酸素を用いてアルキル置換芳香族から芳香族アルデヒドを触媒的かつ高選択的に製造し得る方法を開発することを目的としている。一般に複数のアルキルで置換された芳香族の一つのアルキル基だけを選択的に酸素化して対応するアルデヒドにすることは至難の技である。しかし、光電子移動の反応性の差を利用すれば可能となる。アクリジニウムイオン誘導体の中で適当なものを選ぶことにより、複数のアルキルで置換された芳香族の一つのアルキル基だけを100%選択的に酸素化して対応するアルデヒドにする光触媒反応を開発した。また、α-メチルスチレンおよびアクリジニウムイオンの重アセトニトリル溶液に水銀ランプで300nm以上の光を照射すると、アセトフェノンとホルムアルデヒドが得られた。この光触媒酸素化反応はα-メチルスチレンから一重項励起状態のアクリジニウムイオンへの電子移動を経由して進行することがわかった。
