| Research Abstract |
(1) A new Parameciuim species was found from water samples collected from Shanghai, China, and the species was named as Paramecium schewiakoffi (in press)
(2) For the first time, we collected P. decaurelia and P. dodecaurelia in Japan (Pryzybos et al., Folia boil., 51, 223-224, 2003)
(3) A new Holospora species was found in the macronucleus of P.bursaria collected in Morioka city, and the bacterium was named as Holospora hiwatashii (in preparation)
(4) N.obtusa bearing P.caudatum was collected in Yamaguchi city. This is the most Southern place where Holospora species had ever collected
(5) Collection records on Holospora species by H.-D.Gortz, S.I.Fokin and M.Fujishima for the past 20 years were collected and edited
(6) We found that infection of Holospora transforms the host cells to various sress-resistant, and clarified molecular mechanism of this phenomenon (Hori and Fujishima, J.Euk. Microbiol., 50, 293-298, 2003 ; Nakamura et al., in preparation)
(7) We found 20 host genes, of which expressions were altered by infection of H.obtusa by the differential display method, and four genes were cloned (Nakamura et al., in preparation ; Aikawa et al, in preparation)
