Research Abstract |
Color image signal is vector signal. Each point is consisted of three components as Red, Green and Blue. Generally, color image processing is performed by gray image processing technique. Each component is scalar signal, thus, we can apply gray image processing technique. Another way, we pick up Y component from color signal, then, we apply gray image processing technique to this component. However, vector signal processing technique shows better performance for a lot of processing. In this study, we show a lot of methods of color image processing based on vector signal processing technique. We mainly study about the flowing points. (1) Contrast enhancement of color image We proposed a novel histogram expansion for color signal. We use both RGB and HIS color spaces for enhancement. (2) Super-resolution of color digital images Super-resolution method for color digital image is proposed. (3) Color image processing for coded image (e.g. JPEG coded image). Color information of JPEG and TV signals is reduced for encoding. It is necessary to recover this information when decoding. In this study, we show how to recover this information.
