Research Abstract |
[Background]The incidence of the prostate cancer, not only early stage cancer but also, advanced cases is constantly increasing inthis decade in Japan. The prognosis of the hormone refractory prostate cancer is very poor and so many clinical and basic research are performed. To clarify the mechanism of acquisition of hormone refractory characteristics, we try to make a xenograft model of the prostate cancer. [Methods]The material from biopsy, prostateclomy, autopsy tissues of the prostate cancer were implanted on the back of SCID mice undrer the informed consent for each patient. [Results]1.No xenograft was established from biopsy nor operation samples. 2.One xenograft model was established from autopsy case. 3.The growth of this xenograft was proved to be depending on the testoslerone. [Conclusion]We established very strong tool to clarify the various characteristics of the prostate cancer. We, further, are trying to clarify the mechanism in which prostate cancer cells are becoming hormone refractory.
