| Research Abstract |
For the purpose of establishing a sound archive in Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku, the oldest, university of music and fine arts in Japan, which possesses a considerable number of precious sound recordings collected and taken during its long history, the following works have been done : (1)investigation of the actual situations of the preceding projects, (2)investigation of sorts, numbers (round 6,000 items), and keeping locations of our sound sources, (3)constructing a detailed database of 775 concerts during 1949-2004, (4)digitizing sound data and making CDs from selected tape recordings, (5)research on the ideal way to extract the data from wax cylinders which had been recorded by Hogaku Torishirabe Gakari (Research Committee of Japanese Traditional Music) in 1907-12. Problems to be solved are : (1) to digitize all the valuable sound sources under best condition, keeping the old tapes from exfoliation of the magnetic particle, (2)to digitize the clearest data from wax cylinders, and (3)to decide on our policy to utilize the database and digitized sources, and to open them to the public, while clearing the copyright-problems.
