| Research Abstract |
At the beginning of the year(2004), National Universities were transformed into Independent Administrative Corporations and now their structures are going to be changed radically. The University, as one organization, is demanded to gain high evaluation from the public while maintaining their basic philosophy of education/research. To meet these requirements of the day, University Archives should play an important role. The purpose of our study was to realize the relationships between University Archives and the University Reforms in Kyushu University Archives.
At first, we engaged in collecting materials related to University Reforms. We collected 1491 papers of "The Report of the Self-Assessment" and 871 videotapes of "Introduction Video of Universities". h materials as "Introduction Video of Universities" which were treated like disposable things symbolized University Reforms.
Secondary, by using oral history as method, we tried to record the interview to the people who were deeply involved in University Reforms. As M.Arima explained in his article included in this report (Cf."University Archives and Oral History"), we need to make it a new task of University Archives to accumulate the records gained by oral history. In this study, we interviewed to Toshihumi Yada, the former Vice-President in Kyushu University, which took as long as ten hours. Because it was too early for this interview to make public, we didn't put it in this report. We, instead of that, included "The Database of Discussion Related to University Reforms" edited by himself, who enabled this interview. Although there were some attempts to record some people's memoirs by kikigaki(dictation) and to have interviews that intended to reinforce historical sources on the occasion of the publication of University Histories, it may be the first trial, as university archives, to make the records of the people involved in University Reforms by using the method of oral history.
