| Research Abstract |
This research project aims at constructing a basic architecture of content based network, to provide a new CDN(Content Delivery Network) where content is stored and retrieved based on the metadata appended to each content. The research focuses on (1)developing a content retrieval method based on metadata, (2)developing a content delivery and storing algorithms based on metadata, (3)developing stream transmission method with low transmission delay, (4)developing charging system for content. The following results are obtained for 4 subjects. (1)We have developed a new probabilistic flooding technique to transmit query message and showed that the proposed technique can decrease the total amount of query message without decreasing retrieval error. (2)We have proposed a new meta data which describes history of content retrieval and showed that, by appending meta data to each content, each node in the network can maintain the appropriate content delivery mechanism considering the retrieval history of all contents. (3)We have developed a new ARQ mechanism for streaming packet where each node observes the packet loss and provides adaptive packet retransmission. It is shown that the proposed ARQ mechanism can decrease packet loss caused by retransmission delay. (4)We have developed a new anonymous charging protocol for content, where provider and retriever of the content does not have the knowledge each other.
