Research Abstract

Increase in the bedridden patient after cerebral apoplexy has become a social problem in the this country though a death rate from the cerebrovascular disorder saw fixed repression with the medical progress. The mechanism of the higher brain function deterioration wasn't definite in comparison with the occurrence mechanism such as the limbs paralysis.
As for this research, the elucidation of the higher brain function deterioration mechanism was done after the cerebral apoplexy. Magnetic resonance (MR) diffusion tensor images were adopted as a technique that an image evaluated the higher brain functional disorder. The fractional anisotropy (FA) value was used as the quantitative index of diffusion tensor. Preoperative FA values in the ipsilateral side were significantly lower than those in the contralateral side in the patients with chronic ischemic brain. After surgery, the FA value was significantly increased. Diffusion tensor imaging may indicate isehemic brain damage, not visualized by conventional MR imaging, in patients with chronic ischemic brain. This was connected with as well proving the clinical utility of the high field MR imaging.
It was estimated with a brain perfusion image that how many cerebral blood flow declines were the range of the surgical medical treatment again. The amount of cerebral blood flow was greatly concerned with the higher brain function. The mechanism of the higher brain functional deterioration after cerebral apoplexy has been evaluated in this research.
