Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to investigate the evidences of nursing techniques, in order to promote a movement toward Evidence-Based Nursing. We performed several researches to require evidences in the field of cleanliness, infection control, recuperation environment, meal support, and pain management, and obtained the following conclusions. 1)Immersing a hand in hot water at 39℃ for 10 min increased the skin temperatures of both hands, which were covered by dry towels, by more than one degree for at least 30 min even after the end of hand immersing. 2)A hand applied medical cream after immersing hot water kept its humidity and other physiological functions of the hand skin. 3)It is necessary to develop an educational program to make students wash hands habitually. 4)The materials of bed sheets, which are lowly hygroscopic, could cause worse bed climate and bed sores. 5)Loud human talking voice, at more than 70 dB, could increase unpleasant feeling and sympathetic nervous tension. 6)Skipping meals caused not only fatigue symptoms but also psychological affects. 7)Immersing a hand in hot water alleviated the pricking pain of the other hand. 8)The sounds induced by nursing actions(SNA), especially long and loud ones, alleviated pain. Since SNA can cause transient stressful physical responses, nurses should explain about SNA before giving patient cares and be careful to avoid needless noises. 9)Sweet and sour tastes out of the four basic tastes alleviated experimental pain. 10)A hot compress at more than 38℃ can alleviate experimentally induced pricking pain.
