Research Abstract |
1. We constructed a. space-temporal network for the railway network in greater Tokyo area, formulated a problem of finding the equilibrium distribution of commuters whose information was obtained by a traffic census in the metropolitan area, and developed a computer program to solve this problem. Using this result, we made a fat "the effect on the congestion of cars of trains produced by adopting staggered working hours, constructed a model for computing of tram caused by the time required for getting on and off, and made a forecast on the stage change of the number of passengers using the prediction of population in future. 2. We considered the two types of typical road networks in big cities radial-circular type and grid type. For these types of networks, we derived the distribution of the traveling distance necessary for commuting, as well as the volume of traffic at each point of the network, and tried to compute the appropriate number of roads assuming some model. 3. We proposed a m

ethod of evaluating the structural stability of a system with a network structure, e.g. a road network, and using this together with a Monte Carlo method, evaluated the connectivity of principal road networks of every prefecture in Japan. Further we studied the distribution of the length of a detour when a part of the network is interrupted. 4. We constructed a model for making an optimal maintenance schedule for railway tracks, developed an efficient numerical method to solve the model, and carried out some numerical experiments. 5. We analyzed the influence on the number of visitors to a specified region as a result of improvement of traffic infrastructure. 6. We studied the change of the traveling distance of the users of facilities in some area when they are newly open or closed, and also studied the robust regular patterns of facility locations from this point of view. 7. We constructed a probabilistic model for spreading of a fire in an urban area, and examined an effect for checking the spread of the fire. Less
