北半球の温帯林に隔離分布する食材性昆虫類に関する分子に基づく系統生物地理学的研究

Research Abstract

平成15年度はまず、初めてのヨーロッパ地域として、イギリス(連合王国)とスイスの温帯林での現地調査を8月に実施した。両国では野外調査に加えて、現地調査を予定していたミャンマーをはじめヒマラヤやインドシナ、東アジア各地の動植物標本が多数所蔵されていることで有名な大英自然史博物館とジュネーブ自然史博物館を訪問し、所蔵されている食材性昆虫類標本に関する系統分類学的な調査も行った。
続いて、10月下旬には日本のファウナと関連の深い韓国(中部の山地)、11月下旬には東アジアのファウナとヒマラヤのそれをつなぐ地域としてミャンマー(北部の山岳地帯)を調査研究対象地域として、現地野外調査を実施した。野外調査地では、参加者全員が各種食材性昆虫類の標本採集、生息木材に関するデータ収集と分析用サンプルの採取、シロアリやゴキブリに関する社会構造や巣中の同居昆虫群集に関する調査を行った。
その結果、ミャンマーでオオゴキブリ科やクロツヤムシ科の未記載種を発見したことをはじめ、各調査において従来の分布記録を塗り替える多数の新知見を得た。また、ミツノクロツヤムシやキゴキブリの巣内に同居するエグリハナムグリの生態など生態・行動学上の新知見も得ることができた。これらの成果は食材性昆虫の分類や系統生物地理学を議論する上で極めて意義深く、その一部はすでに学会発表や論文としてまとめられている。
さらに現在、持ち帰った標本やサンプルに基づいて、正確な同定作業や16srRNA遺伝子を中心としたDNA系統解析が進められつつある。今後、採集した各種食材性昆虫の系統を明らかにし、脂肪体内の共生バクテリアの16srRNA遺伝子解析を比較し、分岐年代の推定も行う予定である。また、木材サンプルに関してはC/N比や安定同位体比、セルロースやリグニンなどの木材成分の測定を行い、各種食材性昆虫の持つ生息材の特徴や資源利用方法等の生態的特性をも明らかにすることで、系統進化に関する考察を深めていく。
