Research Abstract |
A purpose of this study is to analyze the multiplicity of monuments, the background of erection, and the historical meaning in nineteenth and twentieth century Japan. I have practiced investigation into the condition on the monuments in Aichi Prefecture. And I could make up the list of the monuments, epitaphs which has been erecting during the two hundred years. The information of monuments has already reached thirty five hundreds places. And I have investigated the monuments on the historical sites of the "NANTHO" (the thirtieth century Japan, the period of the emperor GODAIGO) in island OKI, Kyoto Prefecture, and Mie Prefecture. By such investigation I could have explored the thought of monument culture, the formation of Japanese nationalism, the consciousness of Japanese people and the tradition. Also anther purpose of this study is to compare Japanese monuments with the monuments of the other countries, USA, CHINA and KOREA. I investigated the historical sites and the monuments about the several wars, earthquake at a lot of the Chinese and Korean cities. And I have obtained knowledge of the cultural heritage through this investigation.
