Research Abstract |
1. Concerning E-learning Teaching systems, we changed the system from OPUS for Windows to Terra system which works on Linux. As opposed to the former having been accessed only from the limited browser on Windows, the latter, whose function was narrowed down, can be accessed also from the browser on Macintosh or Linux. 2. We revised descriptions and exercises of the French basic grammar which consists of 23 items in total developed on OPUS, introduced them to Terra, and provided them as teaching materials for a lesson and self-teaching. We also expanded "a module presenting with a sound the example sentences containing the words which should be memorized", taken over to Terra from OPLTS, and we checked its effectiveness. 3. We put, on our homepage, the French-Japanese dictionary data described by XML, and made it accessible from a browser. About 550 words which are most frequently used are marked with red. We are still working on the maintenance of the dictionary data itself. 4. In addition, based on the dictionary data, we added the 'Word search function" to Terra as well. We also added the function which enables the students to make their own word lists to Terra for the purpose of helping the students to memorize the words. 5. Concerning the trial to develop multimedia WEB teaching materials based on the "simple sentence repetition drill" already developed and used as print teaching materials, we could not achieve our aims, as the company which originally developed the OPUS system, which we were planning to use at the beginning, went bankrupt and the development was interrupted. However, recognizing the limit of the OPLTS system, we managed to propose the way WEB teaching-materials contents should be, in the form of the "NOK drill" combined with the tale sentence.
