Research Abstract |
In this study, we firstly have investigated the situation of distributed energy resource (DER)in Japan and have a comparison with the other countries. Then, we try to establish the databases for building energy demand, tariffs of gas and electricity, and technology through a comparison study between Japan and the U.S. covering the policy, technology and the utility tariffs effects on DER systems installations. In the field study, we selected the energy center in Kitakyushu Science and Research Park(KSRP) as a case study and have carried out an analysis on the efficiency of the power generation and heat release utilization of the fuel cell and gas engine in summer by using recorded data. The results can be summarized as follows ; 1)Although the power generation efficiencies of the gas engine and fuel cell are slightly lower than the standard designated value, they are almost constant throughout the period of study. 2)The collected heat energy is lower than the designated value. The heat release utilization, which is used for cooling and hot water, is lower than expected 3)The discarded heat energy of the system is very big in this investigation when evaluating the system as a whole. The evaluation tools have been presented for energy conversation, environment, economics and the other effects due to the introduction of DER. By using those evaluation tools, a total evaluation of energy and CO2 discharge for KSRP has been carried. Furthermore, the viability of co-generation system in a small-scale house complex has been examined and the optimum design for the complex has been analisized by discussing the effects of house complex scale, running mode. Finally, the effects on local environment due to the introduction of DER have been simulated.
