Research Abstract |
<1> Accumulation and arrangement of the research materials about Finnish architecture of Jugend-period and Modernism-period. <2> Study on the related topics: (1) In Finland, modern architecture is a successor not only to Jugend architecture, but also to traditional architecture. On this basis, the relationship between modern architect of Alvar Aalto and architectural tradition of Central Finland district was investigated(March, 2003). (2) For deep understanding of Norclic modernism, the comparison between Finland and Sweden is commended. On this basis, Swedish architect Erik Gunnar Asplund is worth mentioning. Asplund Seminar(July, 2003) was held, and the study tour for Asplund's works near Stockholm(August, 2003) was realized. <3> Writing of the final report. "National Romanticism" is the most important ideology in Finnish architecture throughout JugendfModern-period. On this basis, the final report "The basic study on the National Romantic architecture in Finland"(June, 2004) was completed and published.
