Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to try establishing the nursing care model of end of life for elderly people in institution. The aim of model creation is aiming at development of the care capability of nurses aiming at improvement in the quality of end of life care of the elderly people who live in institution. This model was developed by an investigation for nurses in institution. And it was carried out as the courses of end of life care, making up the guideline p of end of life care, structuring the Support Group for nurses in institution. The courses of end of life care were carried out two times in year. The total of participants were 491 peoples. The guideline p of end of life care was printed as the booklet that was 79pages of 9 parts. And the Support Group for nurses in institution had 123 members in Nagano Pref. The Support Group is working to publish New Letter two times in year. The model may be an effective way to development of the care capability of nurses aiming at improvement in the quality of end of life care of the elderly people who live in institution. Especially, the model had changed the perception and values of nurses who were rejected care of the elderly people who was end of life in institution. Furthermore, this study has suggested that it was important to focus on care skill-up of nurses in the quality of end of life care of the elderly people who live in institution.
