Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The original goal of my JSPS application was the study of EoS by exciting giant resonances in neutron-rich exotic thin isotopes. This plan has been changed to the study of the spin-isospin responses of light nuclei along the neutron drip line. Based on my work plan, first year of my JSPS fellowship had three main tasks: 1.Participating in SAMURAI17 experiment. 2.Putting forward a proposal to the RIKEN. 3.Start a detector development.Overall, first two tasks of my plan have been done. The detector development has been partially performed. At the beginning of the fellowship I participated in SAMURAI17 experiment, aiming at study the giant resonances in 132Sn. In this experiment similar method and experimental setup was used to that one I proposed later. I start to learn the experimental devices and necessary software for analysis during this experiment. In December 2014, I have proposed an experiment at RIKEN RIBF, which will be the first systematical study of the spin-isospin responses of light neutron rich nuclei (8He, 11Li, 14Be). The Program Advisory Committee for Nuclear Physics experiments at RIBF has approved this proposal for 5 days of beam time.I have started the development related to the upgrade of WINDS detector. In the case of inverse kinematical (p,n) reactions the neutron detection is suffering from the gamma ray background. Using new advances in plastic scintillation compositions, exciting instruments capable of n/g pulse shape discrimination, a first prototype of a thin plastic scintillator bar (EJ-299-34) has already been designed and prepared.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In this fiscal (FY2015) year as a second year of my JSPS fellowship I have three main goals: 1.To finish the detector upgrade of WINDS. 2.Perform the analysis of 131Sn data from SAMURAI17 experiment. 3.SAMURAI30 experiment (fix the plan, maybe request beam time). In May and June, I would like to continue the detector development to investigate the n/g discrimination property of EJ-299-34 plastic of the prototype bar and to measure the further properties of detector (efficiency, time and position resolution). Based on these results, I will order the additional material at the end of June. Later on in October, I would like to increase the numbers of the existing scintillator bars up to three and measure further properties of new detector bars. This work has to be finished until end of this calendar year. I would like to start the analysis of 131Sn data from SAMURAI17 from mid June until I have to wait for the delivery of necessary items (new plastic, Hamamatsu PMTs) related the detector upgrade. The clear step-by-step schedule for this work will be determined later. For final, I would like to fix the details of final setup and all necessary conditions of SAMURAI30 experiment, to have a ready plan for performing the experiment as soon as possible. Depend on my progress and decision of SAMURAI collaboration, I would like to request beam time for SAMURAI30 experiment at the end of my fellowship or at least till the end of 2016. During this year I would also like to participate in other experiments related to my interest.
