Research Abstract |
The aim of this research project is to develop a multi-lingual text processing system which can handle Laotian, Burmese, Javanese and Balinese languages. Historical forms and combination patterns of characters of each of these languages are analyzed through corpus approach. On the basis of these analyses, fonts for the scripts of these languages are developed using METAFONT program. A preprocessor written in Perl is extended to treat these languages with Sanskrit or Pali originated vocabulary, so that researchers in Southeast Asian studies can process them easily and print beautifully by TEX.
