| Research Abstract |
1.Investigating and examining various xylographs of The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven, I demonstrated the background of this literature, dissimilarities of some xylographs, and some alterations of the letter in the texts.
2.Examining the setting of colloquies between Western and Chinese people in The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven, I revealed the quotation source and the background ideology.
3.Concerning the author of The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven, Matteo Ricci, I studied his view about the contemporary Chinese ideology.
4.In conformity with texts, I domonstrated the aim and the purpose that the author Matteo Ricci wrote The True Meaning of the Load of Heavens.
5.Concerning two important keywords of The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven : the God and Soul, I analyzed the usage of these two key concepts in the original Chinese texts and, this analysis leads us to the modification of former misinterpretations of this literature.
6.I completed and published the full translation of The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven for the first time in Japan.
7.Translating The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven correctly, I made the intellectual-historical significance of this literature more clear.
8.I made an index of proper nouns (person's names, book titles, place names) in this literature.
9.I demonstrated how the people in late Ming and Qing dynasty read The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven.
10.I demonstrated the influence of The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven on the Korean dynasty.
11.I demonstrated the influence of The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven on Japan in the Edo period.
12.Examining Ji-ren Shi-pian (Paradoxes) in close connection with The True Meaning of the Load of Heaven, I crystallized the direction of the future research of this field.
