Research Abstract |
In 2003-2004 the Russo-Japanese War Association held seven regular workshops in order to activate researches on the Russo-Japanese war. The members of this collective research reaped rich harvests from these activities, some published articles and others made presentations, which contributed to opening the new perspective on the Russo-Japanese study, especially from the viewpoints of cultural aspects and the problem of memories of the war. The Russo-Japanese War Association gave its cooperation in holding a civic forum "Horyo-no Machi/Kokusai toshi Matsuyama" organized by Matsuyama University in December 2003. In 2004-2005 the Russo-Japanese War Association held a workshop in Tsushima island, Nagasaki prefecture and took an excursion to the historic places concerning with the Russo-Japanese war. In October, the Association held an international symposium "Nichiro senso hyakushuunen symposium in Meiji-mura/Inuyama-shi" in Inuyama city, Aich prefecture. Some members of this research group made a presentation or took the platform as a discussant and this group widened the possibilities of international research projects. It was seen as a pre-symposium of the international symposium on the centennial of the Russo-Japanese war and the Portsmouth Peace Treaty, which was held at Kokusai Kouryu-center Komura Kinenkan 19-22 May 2005 (Nichnan-shi, Miyazaki prefecture). At the same time the Association published the collection of essays "Nichiro-senso kenkyu-no shin-shiten (New Perspective on the Researches of the Russo-Japanese War)", the editors of which were four members of this research group.
